Trading Goals in 2023!

One of the most important things you can do as a trader is tracking your success. You have to have a place to record your trades to see what is working and what isn't.

The process is a pretty simple one that I'll show you now.

I keep trade journals.

I can't emphasize how important they are to the whole process.

Not only do I record each trade I made, but also factors like implied volatility, the accumulation distribution, the letter grade of a trade, and the time of the trade and my thought process a lot of work.

Yes, some of you may think I go way overboard, but in the end, I have the information I need to make the evaluations that have improved my trading.

I'm a thinking trader.

My gains don't just happen by chance. They happen because my trades are well thought out.

It is only the aberrant circumstances that occasionally happen that kick my butt.

I go through some simple steps at the end of each quarter. Here is my exact process.

I use an Excel spreadsheet and I divide the trades by trading style.

I look at all the factors that determine why a trade was successful, or why it wasn't so successful.

I rethink my rules and guidelines at the end.

Here's an example of my spreadsheet where I analyze the money press trade for the fourth quarter.

A lot of deep thinking goes into my future trading to make it more successful. And it always starts with the trades I've already done and comparing them to the overall look at the market.

The process takes me about two hours of focused time at the end of each quarter, but that focus time has really paid off and I've become a much better trader because of it.

I'm constantly improving and my confidence as a trader just keeps rising.
