Up 433.2% For 2022?!

THE WEEK
2022 was the worst trading year that I remember. Forbes agrees calling to the worst year for traders since
2009. I thought it was easier to trade in 2009 because the direction was straight down. In 2022 the Market
has been chaotic, up one minute, down the next. Here are some stats to entertain you.

Historically, NASDAQ has much greater percentage returns but in 2022 the DOW beat the NASDAQ handily.

Why? The Dow is chock-full of value stocks with low price-to-earnings ratios and a history of paying dividends. The nervous trading herd turn to these value stocks to protect their portfolios rather than invest in growth
stocks which were overvalued because of previous decade’s strong showing.

LOOKING AHEAD
I believe we will still see a chaotic Market in the first quarter, but I further believe, it will start to right itself. The herd is exhausted and wants a return to more normal trading. This numbness replacing fear will entice traders to start buying again. I can “almost” visualize a buying frenzying at some point as traders see stocks at their lows and undervalued. I don’t believe the frenzy will begin until late in the first quarter. I am watching the tech industry closely for the bargain shoppers as it was hit the hardest in 2022.

HOW AM I DOING?
I had a decent year considering the Market’s crazy trend. I reviewed how I did in detail on last Thursday’s
Investing Buddies webinar. I had realized gains of 433.2% for 2022. I consider it a triumph especially in the
face of adversity. Mentally, it was a hard year leaving me wishing for a boring gradual up Market. On this last
day of 2022 I am suffering for trading exhaustion.
