Trade with Caution

THE WEEK

My favorite amusement park ride since I was a kid is the roller coaster.  The stock market ride has the same look and feel as that ride – the slow grinding first climb, then then big drop, then a series of quick ups and downs that keep your adrenaline up.  Note the reversals are happening faster indicating the Market may start a sideways movement soon.

LOOKING AHEAD

We have two significant Fed reports this week.  On Wednesday at 8:30am Eastern, the CPI figures for August are released.  On Thursday at 8:30am Eastern, the PPI is released.  Both of the reports have impacted the stock Market for the last few years as we battle inflation.  The impact was much greater in the past than now.  But it is still a time to trade with caution and awareness.  

HOW AM I DOING?

Quantum Trading is an 8-week session each quarter that meets daily.  I set up a special account each quarter for the class where I trade live.  The fun part of the class is the participation level.  It is lively and fun and best for me is when someone comes up with a new trading idea or stock to trade.  Friday was the last day of this 8-week series.  My gain on the account was 27.4% for 8 weeks.  It was not my best showing but considering the Market was quite volatile and trading levels ended up almost where they started with the market losing 6.2% during the same 8 weeks, I am OK with my results.
